Qobuz tags releases that include AI-generated tracks and publishes stream stats
On 24 September 2026 Music Ally and TechRadar reported that Qobuz now labels releases it detects as AI-generated with “This release includes AI-generated tracks.” On company figures: AI-generated tracks are 0.38% of streams; 60% of streams on identified AI tracks are treated as fraudulent and earn no royalties; more than a third of zero-listen AI albums — covering four million tracks — were removed from search. That is the February AI Charter put into numbers.
What happened
Qobuz is labelling releases it detects as AI-generated with “This release includes AI-generated tracks.” Music Ally (Stuart Dredge) and TechRadar (Tom Bedford) reported that on 24 September 2026. On company figures: AI-generated tracks account for 0.38% of streams; 60% of streams on identified AI tracks are treated as fraudulent and earn no royalties; more than a third of AI-identified albums with no listening activity — covering four million tracks — were removed from search.
What changed
Qobuz’s 26 February statement, after that month’s AI Charter, said it would analyse the catalogue for 100% AI-generated titles and show tags across apps in the coming months. The 24 September reports add that the in-app label is live and that Qobuz published stream-share, fraud-treatment, and search-removal figures. Music Ally writes that Qobuz said detection is in-house, in a similar vein to Deezer.
Whose work this changes
Distribution and royalty accounting for commercial BGM sent to Qobuz. The label is not a ban on generation. It is a detected-release tag plus excluding some streams on identified AI tracks from royalty calculations. 0.38%, 60%, and four million are company claims, not other-DSP ratios. TechRadar also says titles were removed from the library; Music Ally’s company wording is removal from the search engine.
