A switch to hide AI songs from search will roll out worldwide this year. Creators distributing AI tracks and BGM should check how visibility drops (Deezer)
On 13 Oct 2026 Deezer said a toggle will hide fully AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists from search when on, and restore them when off. Fully AI only. Global by end-2026. Recs exclusion and tags already exist. Fraudulent streams stay out of royalties.
What happened
On 13 October 2026 the streaming service Deezer said it will add a toggle: when a listener turns it on, fully AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists drop out of search results. Turning it off restores them. Global rollout is due before the end of 2026. The official FAQ says the feature targets fully AI-generated music only; tracks that use limited AI as part of a broader human process are treated differently.
What changed
Deezer already excluded detected fully AI tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations, and has tagged albums since June 2025. The new difference is listener-controlled search hiding. Recommendation exclusion and tags remain. Fraudulent streams are already left out of royalty calculations, the company says — that is not new with the toggle. Figures are as of August 2026: nearly 90,000 fully AI tracks a day, more than 50% of daily deliveries on peak days, 1–3% of streams, and up to 85% of 2025 streams of fully AI tracks called fraudulent. More than 42 million tracks were kept out of recommendations from January 2025 to August 2026, and more than 14 million albums tagged.
Whose work this affects
This hits distribution and discovery. Creators who put fully AI tracks — including game or YouTube BGM — on Deezer can lose search-led plays if listeners enable the toggle. Human-led tracks with some AI assistance are outside the FAQ’s search-exclusion target. Recommendations were already blocked, so the change is search visibility for fully AI catalogue that still appeared in search. The press headline also speaks of removing that music from the streaming experience; the FAQ’s specified surface is search.
Do this today
For each Deezer release you control, record in one line whether it is fully AI-generated or human-led with limited AI, and check whether the album already shows an AI tag in the app.
